Transportation of mineral fertilizers by trucks

This article describes the main nuances of the transportation of mineral fertilizers by road.
Any farm needs mineral fertilizers. Before the sowing season, the demand for agrochemistry increases, and therefore the level of transportation of mineral fertilizers increases dramatically. Motor transport is used to deliver mineral fertilizers to farm warehouses.
Agrochemistry refers to dangerous goods. An accident of a vehicle transporting toxic cargoes can lead to serious negative consequences (environmental pollution and intoxication of the driver). Harmful pesticides can get into the soil or pond, leading to environmental disaster. Therefore, the process of transportation of mineral fertilizers should be organized as efficiently as possible.
When transporting mineral fertilizers, it is important to comply with safety regulations and sanitary regulations, to ensure the safety of mineral fertilizers and to maximize the use of cargo capacity and carrying capacity of vehicles.
Agrochemistry can be transported by tare and unpacked methods in vehicles with an onboard platform, dump trucks, tank trucks or other special vehicles.

Dry fertilizers are transported in covered, dry and clean cars. Liquid substances, such as aqueous ammonia, are delivered in tank trucks (there are special ammonia trucks).
Pesticides and other potent chemicals must be packaged in shipping containers: paper, polymer bags, boxes, barrels. The transport container should be marked with the name, concentration, mass of the substance and other information.
Dust fertilizers are delivered in tank trucks with mechanical or pneumatic loading and unloading. In this case, the carrier is obliged to seal up the cracks and connections of the floor and sides of the body tightly and provide the car with a tarpaulin to protect the cargo from being sprayed during transportation and exposure to precipitation.
Mineral fertilizers transported in shipping containers must be packaged in accordance with all standards, regulatory and technical documents for a particular type of fertilizer.
When loading and unloading mineral fertilizers, the driver must leave the cab and close it tightly. All loading and unloading operations should be carried out in a mechanized way. Agrochemistry is accepted for transportation and is delivered to the consignee by weight or number of packages.
The consignee is obliged to clean and wash the body of the vehicle carrying mineral fertilizers.
It is forbidden to transport mineral fertilizers with foodstuffs, industrial and food products of national consumption in one body.
Since many types of mineral fertilizers are dangerous goods, during their transportation should have a full list of necessary documents.
The vehicle must have a permit for the carriage of dangerous goods. The driver must pass special training and get admission.
It should carefully consider the route of movement. It is desirable that it does not pass through populated areas or densely populated areas of the city. If this is not possible, one should move along less busy roads (with the least intensity), excluding schools, kindergartens, hospitals, parks, recreation areas, etc.
